According to Nationwide [which is not affiliated with PIE] Workers Compensation: “provides medical and wage benefits to people who are injured or become ill at work. The coverage is mandated by each state and the wage and medical benefits vary by state. Workers’ compensation is considered a social insurance because it relies on a social contract between management and labor, wherein exchange for purchasing workers’ compensation insurance, business owners are protected from civil suits from their workers who become injured on the job. “
“Workers’ compensation is a government-mandated system that pays monetary benefits to workers who become injured or disabled in the course of their employment.” says Investopedia.
The California Department of Industrial Relations states that “California employers are required by law to have workers’ compensation insurance, even if they have only one employee. “
Most businesses that have employees in the United States need some sort of workers compensation insurance. As stated above “employer are required by law” to have workers comp even with just “one employee.” There are several instances when this might not be the case. Speak with an attorney, or the DOI to learn more. Agents are available to price workers comp policies out, not to provide you with the legal requirements.
An independent agent is an agent or agency that does not simply write for one Insurer or Group of Insurers. There is no one insurance company that has the right of first refusal. In California, Independent Agents can also be called Insurance Brokers. Technically there is a difference between an independent agent and an independent broker, but from the perspective of the consumer they are exceptionally similar.
Pie insurance can likely be purchased direct from the consumer to the insurer. But why buy your workers comp for the same price without an agent to walk you through the process? That is where a good solid independent agent can step in to assist you. Pie insurance might indeed be the best fit for your organization and bottom line, find out today by contacting Marindependent Insurance Services LLC.
